The moon was electric with anticipation and excitement as BOTS landed early on the morning of Tuesday
January 24th to view the 84th Academy Awards® Nomination Announcements.
A deafening roar rolled through Biospace 1 as
"The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore"
was revealed as one of the final 5 nominees for
Best Short Film (Animated).

The celebration continued throughout the day as the studio was inundated with a steady stream of congratulatory calls and interview requests.
Many the of short and feature length animated film directors, including Bill and Brandon, shared their reactions to the big news with
Animation Magazine.
Local affiliate radio and television stations also eagerly reported the news. Red River Radio featured a reaction
interview, and
LPB,
KTBS, and
KSLA all featured reports.
Shreveport CBS news affiliate KSLA interview with Bill, Brandon, and Lampton.
The nomination and our subsequent release of the short for free via
Vimeo has broadened Morris' popularity.
A multitude of publications have featured the short on their sites and blogs.
Huffington Post featured the short along with an article.
CG Channel noted
that it is unusual to be able to view an Oscar-nominated short so easily before the winner is announced, saying
Moonbot "has rather refreshingly bucked that trend".
The
LA Times wrote an in depth piece that touches on all aspects of the film and both the decision and reaction of turning the short into an iPad App, and
Motionographer calls "Morris" a "...journey worth watching".
